After graduating from Seoul National University's liberal arts department, she moved to France and majored in contemporary French literature and theater and film at the Sorbonne. After returning home, she founded the Minjung Theater. She has contributed greatly to the internationalization of Korean theater arts while serving as the president of the Korean Theater Association and the world headquarters of the International Dramatic Arts Association. He has served as a professor of the Department of Theater and Film at Chung-Ang University, the dean of the art college, and the president of the Korea Culture and Arts Promotion Agency, and is currently a member of the Korean Academy of Arts. As a director, Kim Jeong-ok dealt with a lot of European comedies and absurd plays with excellent theatrical qualities from the 1960s to the early 1970s, and from the late 1970s he mainly directed creative plays. His works include 「Egg」, 「Bad Female Singer」, 「Feast of Taraji」, 「What Will Be Like」, and 「And They Die」.
